Is the future of web design hidden in... stuff?

I'm very curious to hear what you guys think about something: I was reading The Future of Web Design is Hidden in the History of Architecture this week and after reading most many supportive comments, I'm still not sure I buy it. Every time there's an enormous conclusion made that projects the present/future onto the past, I can't help but think it's a comparison of convenience. If you fit 2 things together in enough combinations and only include the evidence that helps, then of course it looks like a good fit. And everyone understands what a "cycle" is, so you conveniently get to call whatever you're talking about a cycle! So deep! (said somewhat sarcastically)

But maybe there is something to be said for the "values" or step-by-step progressions made through eras for both architecture and web design? I'm not sold but I'd love to hear more dissenting arguments!

Have a great week, y'all!
